Abstract Painting As Visual Language Workshop Sign-Up
May 2-3, 2026 from 10-5pm
Sagebrushers Art Society
Cost: $250
This two-day workshop is a hands-on acrylic painting class that explores abstraction as a visual language.
You’ll work through guided painting exercises based on the working methods of major abstract painters to understand how abstraction communicates feeling and ideas, and how to apply those strategies in your own work.
Sessions draw from the approaches of Wassily Kandinsky, Mark Rothko, Agnes Martin, Hilma af Klint, and Sonia Delaunay. Rather than copying finished works, you’ll focus on understanding the underlying strategies these artists used and translating them into original abstract paintings.
Suitable for beginners and experienced painters. No prior experience with abstraction is required.
